An enjoyably festive time was had by both participants and onlookers at Glen Eden’s 2016 Santa Parade and Party on Saturday 19th November – with the party kicking off late morning in Glenmall Place, and culminating in the afternoon’s parade.
Many people deserve thanks for the day’s success. To quote Glen Eden Village –
“Special thanks to:
The Glen Eden Protection Society – in particular Gayle Marshal & Eleanor Cooley
Waitakere Ranges Local Board
Glen Eden Business Association
Eric Knight – great effort setting up and being a marshal, and packing it all down too
Janet Gilmour – at the heart of things as always
Glen Eden Intermediate School – the kids doing the William Pike Challenge who came and helped
Chris Jones from Me and Mrs Jones
Sue Ross from Hollings Pharmacy
Glen Eden Community House
Glen Eden and Waiatarua CPNZ
Barfoot and Thompson
Auckland Council events
DJ Jan Peter
The Magic Brush face-painters
David C Russell
And all the entertainers and participants!”

Fellow Glen Eden community group Friends of Waikumete are holding Carols by Candlelight this festive season – the more the merrier!
Big thanks to everyone who took part in the Glen Eden Christmas Parade: The marshals, participants and all the other helpers, not forgetting Santa himself! And how lucky that the “weather gods” took pity on us and held off till about 4 p.m.
Also a word of encouragement for those good folk who took part in the clean up the other week. It was noticed! Comments were made about how nice the village was looking.
So now the organisers can relax a little and feel proud of a job well done.

The Glen Eden Santa Parade is nearly here and we know that many people really enjoy this event.
Santa STILL needs some little helpers!
Particularly needed are responsible folk to act as Parade Marshals. This involves keeping the public safe by making sure everyone is in the right place and monitoring traffic flows, as well as other little jobs.
You would need to be available from 12 to 3pm on Saturday 15th November and also attend a meeting to be briefed on your role. Come on guys! This event takes a lot of work and organisation and your contribution would be deeply appreciated.
If you can help, PLEASE get in touch with Eleanor. If you can’t do the marshal job there may be some other little way you can help.
I know there are a lot of good people out there. Now is your chance to do something tangible to support the good folk who work so hard to try and brighten the life of the community of Glen Eden.
Just a few hours of your time will mean so much!!
A practical way to care for your community. Are you in?
Santa is very busy at the moment in his workshop but he will be at the Glen Eden Christmas Parade on November 15th.
Now here’s the thing: Santa and his helpers really need some MORE helpers for that day. If you think you would like to help, even in a small way, please contact one of the Boss Helpers – Eleanor at firstname.lastname@example.org – as she would love to hear from you.
No contribution is too small: There are all sorts of jobs to be done.
Please get in touch.
